I get a lot of communications from recruiters looking for in-house SEOs. Some look pretty good, some less than so.
I just received one that really looks like an opportunity for some search engine optimization expert who is in the market for a new position. Frankly, this one looks like a perfect fit for me. Unfortunately, it’s in Renton, WA and, even if they offered me twice what I make now (and I have no idea what the salary offered will be), I am not in a position to relocate at this time. 😦
The position is with Classmates.com, which I use regularly as a paid subscriber. I credit the service with recently getting me back in contact with my best friend in high school who I lost touch with about twenty-five years ago.

S E O Manager
An S E O Manager will manage and coordinate the S E O efforts at Classmates. The successful candidate will be able to drive strategy, offer recommendations, and assist in the deployment of projects, including site and data analysis as required. He or she will track key performance indicators from internal and external monitors to improve site positioning/ranking/indexing and customization. The ideal candidate should have a strong working knowledge of Web technology, S E O techniques, and online marketing. Additionally, the S E O Manager will be called upon to perform or oversee S E O copywriting and technical writing. The candidate will be required to coordinate S E O activities with external agencies, as needed. Excellent computer, Internet, and SEO skills and techniques are hallmarks of a successful candidate. The S E O Manager must be able to perform each essential duty of the job and accept special projects as assigned.
Search Engine Optimization
â€¢ Optimize Classmates pages for search engines: data, HTML, site structure, and page content issues
â€¢ Research and work with developers to resolve link architecture, content and indexing issues
â€¢ Build quality link partners
â€¢ Identify and implement effective strategies for increasing traffic through organic search listings.
â€¢ Build on understanding of how search engines and their spiders work by conducting research and reporting key developments and news
â€¢ Create and maintain best practices documentation to ensure efficient and accurate implementation of white-hat search optimization strategies
â€¢ Agency management, as applicable
Tracking and Reporting
â€¢ Continually monitor organic search rankings to maximize traffic and conversions
â€¢ Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the campaign
â€¢ Monitor competitive SEO activity, enhancements and performance
â€¢ Keyword research, including cataloging and indexing target keyword phrases
â€¢ Create, categorize, and refine keyword lists to drive qualified visitors
Page Design/Development for Usability
â€¢ Direct creative execution of search pages that are both user- and search engine-friendly
â€¢ Compose or manage development of copy, depending on the project
â€¢ Ensure copy meets both S E O and creative standards
â€¢ 3+ years experience in search marketing
â€¢ 3+ years experience in marketing outside of search
â€¢ Bachelorâ€™s degree (B.A.) in Information Science, Business, English, Journalism, Advertising, or Communications from four-year college or university
â€¢ Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
â€¢ Working knowledge of S E O ranking, traffic and analysis trends and existing tools/software
â€¢ Basic understanding of pay-per-click advertising and affiliate marketing is desireable
â€¢ Excellent verbal communication skills and an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment
â€¢ Demonstrated ability to manage details, efficient work habits, and flexibility. Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
